Our Cancer Care Consultant, Claire Thevenot, is an oncology certified registered nurse and stage IV breast cancer survivor. In addition to understanding the clinical side of cancer diagnoses and treatments, she understands and has faced the fear and uncertainty that

comes with learning you or a loved one has cancer.

  • Prepares for and attends appointments, making sure that all questions are answered, and that you understand what was discussed. Detailed notes are provided afterwards that you can refer to and share with concerned family or friends.

 

  • Identifies community and program resources such as meal delivery and drug patient assistance programs.

 

  • Assists with insurance coverage review, claims, and appeals when necessary to help minimize the financial strain of a cancer diagnosis.

 

  • Reviews medical bills for accuracy and work with providers and billing departments to correct any discrepancies.

 

  • Researches and assists in applications for clinical trials which can offer access to new, cutting-edge therapies.

 

  • Handles burdensome practical issues such as making appointments, applying for a handicap parking tag or completing FMLA or disability insurance paperwork.

 

  • Provides recommendations for supportive care services and complementary therapies such as nutrition counseling, oncology massage, and psychotherapy services.

 

  • Organizes medical records so that they are easily retrievable to share with other providers or when needed for insurance or other purposes.

 

  • Provides ongoing emotional support and coaching during diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
